03/29/2010 CEAC Form DS-160 Required at many US Consulates
The CEAC (Consular Electronic Application Center) DS-160 is a new non-immigrant application form that replace the DS-156, DS-157, and DS-158 forms. Non-immigrant visa applicants will need to check with your U.S. consulate office to ensure that you are using the correct form. For example, beginning March 29, 2010, the U.S. Embassy/Consulates in Japan will require ALL non-immigrant visa applicants, except K (Fiancee and certain spouses) visa applicants, to use the DS-160 application form. You will be required to use a CEAC DS-160 form if you make an appointment for any date on or after March 29, 2010. If the online application has not been completed fully and accurately, the applicant will need to return with a new completed application. For example, if you select the wrong visa classification or gender, certain questions applicable to your case will not appear on the DS-160. In this case, the interview on your appointment date may also be cancelled. Before you fill out the CEAC DS-160 online form, you need to know what visa type you are applying for as you will be required to enter additional information, according to the visa type.
